The president of CNN says Trump is attempting to “delegitimize journalism.”

Jeff Zucker, the president of Clinton News Network, had this to say regarding the recent targeting of his network by the President-elect, “It’s just unfortunate that the most powerful person in the world is trying to delegitimize journalism and an organization that plays such a vital role in our democracy.”

Zucker also defended his organization’s decision to report on the unverifiable and quite frankly the entirely fake news report which claimed that Trump urinated on Russian prostitutes. “The fact is, the top four intelligence chiefs of the United States decided to include in their briefing to the president and president-elect a two-page summary of allegations involving the president-elect. That is newsworthy by any definition.”

Russian President Vladimir Putin poked fun at the unverified report during a recent press conference asking why Trump would deal with prostitutes while he deals with “the most beautiful women in the world” every day.

Claim: CNN President claims their ratings are higher than ever

Monday Jeff Zucker said that he believes his ratings are higher than ever. But is that true? Well, not exactly. According to Nielsen, Fox News has seen their overall viewership grow following the November election, while both MSNBC and CNN saw their ratings’ plummet. However, all three networks saw their audience with the key 25-54-year-old demographic shrink, although the losses for CNN (-47%) and MSNBC (-42%) were drastically higher than that of the Fox News Channel (-2%).

Although Jeff Zucker may point to a recent report by the Business Insider that they’ve seen their highest viewers since 1995, that would be expected in a contentious election year and to keep up with population growth.

For the record, Fox News is still the number one cable news network. According to recent numbers, Fox News is number one for total daytime viewership and is second in basic cable primetime, finishing behind only ESPN. Fox is feeling some vindication after Trump recently called CNN “fake news” to one of their reports race during his most recent press conference. After all, President Obama has targetted Fox News on numerous occasions during the past 8 years and most recently blamed the network “being on in every bar” for Hillary Clinton’s recent election loss.

Zucker claimed CNN’s ratings were higher than ever.

Verdict: Misleading!
